Primase

DNA primase is a type of RNA polymerase. It catalyzes de novo the synthesis of a short RNA segment, called a primer, which is complementary to an ssDNA template. This primer enables the DNA-dependent DNA polymerase to copy the ssDNA. The RNA primer is removed by the exonuclease after elongation by DNApol.
