Orinovirus (taxid:2501973)

VIRION

image

Unknown, discovered using viral metagenomics. Presumably enveloped.

GENOME

Negative-stranded RNA linear genome, about 10 kb in size. Encodes for five proteins.
CAUTION: All genes of Orinoco virus appear to be arranged in reverse order compared to other mononegaviruses, and this is not consistent within the genus sequences. The genome has been presented here in canonical order on the assumption that Orinoco virus gene order may be an artifact of genome assembly.

GENE EXPRESSION

The viral RNA dependent RNA polymerase binds the encapsidated genome at the leader region, then sequentially transcribes each genes by recognizing start and stop signals flanking viral genes.

ENZYMES

REPLICATION

CYTOPLASM

  1. Attachement of the viral glycoproteins to host receptors.
  2. Fusion of virus membrane with the vesicle membrane.
  3. Sequential transcription.
  4. Replication .
  5. Cytoplasmic ribo-nucleocapsids buds out of the cell, releasing new virions.
