Nuclear exit of viral genome

All nuclear replicating viruses must get their progeny out of the nucleus. This process requires dedicated viral proteins, indeed it is unnatural for a cell to let DNA or un-spliced RNA material escape from the nucleus.

Three major ways allows nuclear virus exit from this organelle:
Nuclear pore export: export of genetic material with a shuttle protein
Nuclear egress: budding, and fusion through the nuclear membranes to reach cytoplasm
  Nuclear envelope breakdown
