Botourmiaviridae (taxid:2560063)

VIRION

image

No true virion, no structural proteins. Genomes are associated with their RdRp in the cytoplasm with the exception of Ourmiavirus having a non-enveloped capsids with T=1 icosahedral symmetry.

GENOME

Monopartite or segmented (3), linear, ssRNA(+) genome. Each segments are 1 to 3 kb in size.

GENE EXPRESSION

Genomic RNAs serve as messenger RNAs.

ENZYMES

REPLICATION

CYTOPLASMIC

  1. Virus penetrates into the host cell.
  2. Uncoating, and release of the viral genomic RNA into the cytoplasm.
  3. The viral RNAs are translated to produce the three viral proteins.
  4. Replication takes place in cytoplasmic viral factories. A dsRNA genome is synthesized from the genomic ssRNA(+).
  5. The dsRNA genome is transcribed/replicated thereby providing viral mRNAs/new ssRNA(+) genomes.
  6. Virus assembly, each segment is encapsidated possibly individually.
  7. Viral movement protein probably mediates virion cell-to-cell transfer.
